The Denali Vineyard is a 42-acre property with 14 acres of cabernet sauvignon vines. This ranch is located just above Joseph Phelps winery and overlooks the Napa Valley looking west. It produces wines that are provocative and silky-smooth in texture, with layers of intensity. It is shiny, dark black in hue with some garnet and dark cherry on the rim. The nose has a beautiful extraction between spices like thyme, pepper and dark fruit like blackberry, dark cherry and cassis. The palate is dense, yet fresh entrance with a beautiful mid-palate of red plum, red cherry and elderberry lingering on a layered finish with fine, granular tannins. 100% Barrel Fermented, 20 days on skins. Aged 22 months, 80% new French oak.

Professional Ratings

95 Parker
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Denali Vineyard has a very deep purple-black color, delivering pronounced, profound notes of black currant cordial, black berry pie and plum preserves with suggestions of charcoal, licorice, Indian spice and fertile loam, plus a waft of black tea. The medium to full-bodied palate has a rock-solid structure of super firm, super ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness supporting the muscular black fruits preserves flavors, finishing long and spicy.

Hugely concentrated and woody, with impressive hints of cedar, clove, pencil and dried herb, this wine is lengthy and thick in dark brooding fruit. The power is wrapped in structure and freshness, allowing room for the wine to breathe and find balance. This is a good candidate for cellaring; enjoy best from 2028–2038.
