The winery Pizzolato Settimo & Gino was founded in 1981. Initially the company focused on the cattle industry, the cultivation and harvesting of fruit and vegetables, in particular kiwi, peaches and strawberries. “I chose to help my father running our farm in 1981. I began to seek alternative methods to chemicals such as integrated pest management practices.“The grapes and wine were excellent products among all the agricultural products and soon demonstrated a positive response to organic methods. In 1991 the wine produced began to be monitored and be certified by an inspection body in accordance with Reg. EEC n. 2092/91; also the winemaking and bottling techniques became regulated by a new European statute on organic wine. The winery obtained the organic certification in 1991, the year in which certification system was born in Italy. The same wine that me and my family used to drink at the table, was labeled and sent to a foreign country, far away: my dream to let others taste the fruit of my land turned into reality. It’s been more than thirty-five harvests and I feel like I have lived so many lives; each harvest, each vintage is an adventure in itself, difficult, unique and unforgettable. “More than thirty-five years have passed and I feel as if I have lived as many lives; each vintage, each harvest is an adventure in itself, tiring, unique and unforgettable: many of us were harvesting the grapes, we were family members. It was a time of celebration and we never felt fatigue. We all waited for grandmother Giselda to bring us a snack which more often consisted of a good sandwich and a “goto de quel bon”. My dad Gino led the choirs and that “Barba” from which the name of our prestigious Malanotte DOCG – Il Barbarossa was born.

Don't Judge a Book by its Cover Comes to Mind

When my friend gave this overly sparkly bottle, it made me think the contents were going to be overly sweet and undrinkable (for me who prefers dry rose). So I was pleasantly surprised that the brut rose was actually LOVELY! It was dry, not overly sweet, and the singular reason that I paid more for shipping on this second bottle than the actual purchase price. The friend that gave me the initial bottle passed away and we intend to enjoy this bottle in her honor on the anniversary of her death.
