The winery focuses on red wines, but does have a small amount of white vines. This limited production white is superb with notes of apples and peaches on the nose and great intensity of fruit on the palate. "Peciña was founded in 1992 by La Rioja Alta’s long-time vineyard manager, Pedro Peciña. His family’s 20 hectares of great old vineyards around San Vincente formed the basis of his new estate. In 2002, after 18 years at La Rioja Alta, Pedro left to devote himself entirely to his bodega. Knowing where all the best vineyards were, he acquired additional prime parcels exclusively on the left bank of the river with its high elevations and chalky soil. Pedro’s white wines are quite modern. He uses no chemical fertilizers, nor does he induce fermentation. The grapes for this one are hand picked and sorted, destemmed but not crushed before going into stainless steel tanks to macerate for 24 hours to gain structure and complexity. After spontaneous fermentation, the wine ages on the lees with racking from tank to tank every three months before bottling. It comes in at a refreshing 12.5% alcohol.
