This wine displays varietal Cabernet Sauvignon characters; rich and generously loaded with blackberry and mulberry fruits, well supported by oak and spice and fine long tannins. This delicious, dense, and fruit packed wine will complement a wide variety of meal choices, especially red meat, pasta, and slow braised dishes.
Description
The grapes used to make this wine have been sourced from vineyards planted on the original Goss property in McLaren Vale. With dominant winter rainfall, warm, dry summers that are tempered by the proximity to the Gulf of St. Vincent and low humidity, McLaren Vale has one of the most consistent climates in which to grow premium wine grapes. Due to the optimal ripening periods during February and March, the vintage has delivered exceptional quality and balance.
Estate
A pioneer farmer and landholder of note, Thomas Goss, his wife Mary and their children arrived in South Australia from Devonshire in 1849. After success in the Victorian gold fields he acquired sections of farming land between McLaren Vale and Willunga which are now home to some of the region’s leading vineyards.
Lots of primary fruit with crushed black currants and hints of green leaves and chocolate. Full-bodied, medium tannins and a fresh finish. Some bell pepper.
