Disgorged in February 2017, the latest release of the NV Rosé de Saignée Blanc de Rose Extra Brut is the best that I've tasted, unfurling in the glass with a beautifully Burgundian nose of smoky red berry fruit, blood orange and peonies. On the palate, it's full-bodied, broad and vinous, with a deep core of expressive fruit, filigreed phenolic structure, a youthfully frothy mousse, ripe but racy acids and a sapid, delicately chalky finish. As usual, it's a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, macerated together.
