In the second century, the Gallo-Roman Figeacus family built a villa on the Figeac property and gave it their name. Vines have been cultivated there ever since. Figeac is the only producer to secure a coveted promotion to Premier Grand Cru Classe A status in the St-Emilion 2022 classification, along side Pavie. Three gravelly ridges traverse the Figeac vineyard, with little clay subsoil, a departure from the limestone beds of most of Saint-Emilion’s top properties. The unique geology of Figeac encouraged Manoncourt to increase plantings of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is always 1/3 each of both Cabernets & Merlot.
