Cuentaviñas is a new project from Eduardo Eguren from Viñedos y Bodegas Sierra Cantabria. The project started with the acquisition of three old vineyards in the famed San Vicente de la Sonsierra subregion of Rioja Alta. Alomado is sourced from the Ribarrey vineyard, on the south-west facings of the Sierra Cantabria. Planted in 1960 it is a co-planted field blend of goblet trained 80% Tempranillo, 10% Viura, 6% Malvasía, 4% Calagraño. The soils here are calcareous clay. The varietals were harvested and fermented together. Malolactic fermentation and aging occurred in used 500 liter French oak barrels.
