Division Winemaking Company is an urban winery launched in 2010 in Portland, Oregon Kate Norris and Thomas Monroe. Their shared passion for wine led them to Beaujolais, France, where they honed their viticulture and enology skills while developing a deep appreciation for sustainable farming and minimalist winemaking. This experience formed the cornerstone of their philosophy at Division Winemaking Company, which they established upon returning to the United States.
Norris and Monroe are dedicated to low-impact, eco-friendly practices. They source their grapes from select vineyards across the Willamette Valley and other parts of Oregon and Washington, each chosen for their unique terroir and commitment to sustainability. Their approach to winemaking involves minimal intervention, with a preference for native yeast fermentations and aging in old French oak barrels. This method allows for the production of wines that are authentic expressions of their origin, highlighting the individual characteristics of each grape variety and the unique nuances of their specific terroir.
