ZD Wines is owned and operated by three generations of the deLeuzes, a Napa Valley family dedicated to  sustainability, innovation, and philanthropy. The winery lies in the Rutherford region of Napa, and their gorgeous  vineyard estate includes sweeping valley floor views. The deLeuze family has a passion for producing world-class wines from a variety of regions, including their organically certified estates located in Rutherford and Carneros, as well as vineyards in Santa Barbara, Monterey, and Sonoma Counties. Focused primarily on three varietals (Chardonnay,  Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinot Noir), their innovative approach to winemaking is highlighted by Abacus, a solera-style  wine currently containing 25 vintages of Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. From organic farming and renewable  energy, to a hands-on approach to winemaking, to hosting premier fundraising events in Napa Valley, the deLeuze  family is dedicated to their craft. In 2018, ZD Wines celebrates 50 years of winemaking, and will be releasing its first ever Sparkling Cuvee to commemorate this milestone. ZD Wines can be found online at ZDWines.com, on Facebook at Facebook.com/ZDWines, on Instagram @ZDWines, and on Twitter @ZDWines.Sustainability & Organic Farming Since 1999, ZD’s Rutherford and Carneros Estates have been certified organic by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). Founder Norman deLeuze believed that great wines are made from healthy vines and today his original commitment to sustainability is carried on in the winery’s approach to organic farming. ZD embraces biodiversity, solar power and natural alternatives in the pursuit of great tasting, world-class wines. The winery hosts honey bees, owl boxes, chickens, and organic gardens, in addition to their organic winegrowing farming practices. The ZD commitment to sustainably also extends beyond the winery, as most of the deLeuze family members own sola rpowered homes and drive electric cars. The winery also offers charging stations on the property, allowing sustainability to extend to visitors and staff members alike.ZD Winemaking & Viticulture Practices In 1969, ZD was the first winery to recognize the Carneros region on its label. Their extensive approach to winemaking includes blending wines from different vineyards and regions, as well as producing Abacus, a solera-style  wine consisting of 25 vintages of Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Focused primarily on Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, ZD’s winemaking team is dedicated to “Zero Defects,” an engineering term embraced by founder Norman deLeuze to pursuing the highest quality wines while raising the bar of excellence across the board. ZD Wines has been farming their vineyards organically since the early 80’s, and their Rutherford and Carneros Estates were certified organic by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) in 1999.Giving Back The deLeuze family has a passion for philanthropic efforts within the community and beyond. Last year, they  established the deLeuze Family Charitable Foundation benefiting worthwhile charities, such as The deLeuze Family  Endowed Professorship for a Non-Toxic Cure for Lymphoma, the Teen Center at Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley,  and Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s. To support these endeavors, ZD Wines hosts the annual Crush  Challenge, a Napa Valley food, wine, and cycling experience; the Summer Wine Celebration at their ZD Carneros  Estate; and this fall a 50th Anniversary Celebration Bash. With community support, they have raised over $1,000,000  to further the research into a cure for Lymphoma, and more than $100,000 for the Teen Center and other charities.
